HISTORY
Horsham Dokuja Karate-do Wado-Kai karate club is a non-profit making club founded in 1994 to teach Wado style karate. Since 1999 we have trained at what was Chesworth School, now Kingslea CP School in Kings Road, Horsham. The school have always treated our club with great consideration and have always made the utmost effort to fit us in even when other events such as school plays and building works are taking place. INSTRUCTORS
The Senior Instructor of the club is Gordon Hoare who has been teaching Karate since 1991 and holds a 7th Dan black-belt in British Wadokai Wadoryu Karate. He has also been honoured with the title of Renshi; which was awarded to him in 2007 for Dedication & Loyalty to Wadoryu Karate and British Wadokai. There full list of instructors is listed on the INSTRUCTORS page. WADO STYLE KARATE
Horsham Wadoryu Karate Club trains in the Wado style of karate, following traditional teachings of Ohtsuka-Hironori 10th Dan Meijin (1892 – 1982), the founder of Wado-ryu Karate. We follow the traditional syllabus, details of which can be found on the British Wadokai website. HORSHAM WADORYU KARATE CLUB AFFILIATIONS
The Horsham Wadoryu Karate Club is a member of British Wadokai, which has foundations that were established in 1973, and is in turn affiliated to the British Wado Federation (a.k.a. Eikoku Wado Renmei), the European Wado Federation and the International Wado Federation (see links page). The British Wado Federation is the only official Wado Governing Body in the UK that is affiliated to the European Wado Federation and International Wado Federation. As a member of the Horsham Wadoryu Karate Club you are also automatically affiliated as a member to British Wadokai, the British Wado Federation, European Wado Federation and the International Wado Federation. This provides the opportunity to attend specialist training courses held by highly respected instructors and enter Wado Karate competitions if you wish to compete. British Wadokai also organises 'entry-level' Wadoryu karate competitions for all members. |
